Right from the start, In Real Life made history, becoming the very first band ever to be voted together. Chance Perez, Brady Tutton, Drew Ramos, Sergio Calderon and Michael Conor competed on the ABC reality series Boy Band in 2017. Since then, the group went on to release hit singles such as “Eyes Closed”, “Tattoo (How Bout’ You), “How Badly”, “Tonight Belongs To You” + their latest single “Got Me Good”. The boys kicked off their very first headline tour in North America last month with dates running through October 10th, ending in Orlando, FL.
From start to finish, everything about the Tonight Belongs To You Tour is a smash. Spencer Sutherland kicks off the night with a collection of both originals and covers, instantly winning over the audience! One of the biggest highlights of the night was when Spencer performed his current single, “Fine”. Sutherland reveals, “This song in particular has to do with everyone thinking they have to put on a fake smile and act like they are ok all of the time. It’s basically saying that it’s ok not to be ok.” A message like this is extremely important, especially now. Spencer also admits, “it’s very important in todays culture to have the conversation.” Everything from mental heath to suicide awareness, is a conversation that unfortunately has a stigma attached. For a young artist like Spencer, to speak out and inspire the next generation to start a conversation, says a lot about who Sutherland is as a person.

JAGMAC was up next, rightfully pumping up the crowd in the best way possible. Jared, Angelique, Gabriel, Manjo, Alyssa and CJ, were named Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing earlier this year. Based on their set, it’s easy to understand why. This group of four brothers and two sisters, showcased their abilities not only as musicians, but as dancers as well. Every single song left the audience wondering what they might do next. One of the best moments was when they performed “Right Back With You”, leading the audience in to one of the biggest sing alongs of the night.

The moment had finally arrived for In Real Life to take the stage. As the lights blacked out, and the intro began playing, the entire audience went insane. There are certain moments in life when you pause to realize how special the people standing right in front of you are. That was a moment I had with these guys. There is truly no boy band out there like In Real Life. While we had the opportunity to witness Chance, Brady, Drew, Sergio and Michael take on their hit singles, we also had the opportunity to hear them take on some of the biggest hits of the past decade including: 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Amnesia”, Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors”, and Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida”.

In my recent interview with IRL, Michael admits, “I feel like the start of this tour is us realizing how much our work has paid off. I feel like it’s easy to get lost in your own head and think “is this working”, “is what I’m doing worth it”.” This tour is nothing but clarification, that this is exactly where these boys are meant to be. In the very beginning, we had the chance to see what each of these guys had to offer as solo artists on the ABC series, Boy Band. On the Tonight Belongs To You Tour, each of the guys take the time to perform solos, reminding us how widely diverse and talented this group actually is. Michael kicks the solos off with a freestyle rap, sending the audience into a complete frenzy. Sergio takes on Liam Payne’s “Familiar”, Chance tackles “Sweet Creature” by Harry Styles (swoon), Brady covers “Stay” by Post Malone, and finally Drew shares a rendition of Bazzi’s hit “Beautiful”.

Each song on this set list was so next level, the show was over in the blink of an eye. While this tour has been a huge accomplishment for the guys, there is still a lot they would really want to tackle as we head in to 2019. “Tattoo (How Bout’ You)” peak at #27 on the Billboard Pop Charts, but the guys have a #1 on their bucket list, hoping that the next song they release will shoot straight to the top of the charts. We have a feeling you will be seeing a lot more of In Real Life as 2019 unfolds. There are still select dates left on the Tonight Belongs To You Tour.
