Music has been part of Jac Ross’ life for as long as he can remember. Jac admits, “I first found a love for music when I was about 12 years old. I remember my dad taking me to a gospel concert and something about that night gripped me. The energy was so high. I knew from that moment on I’d be a professional singer.” Growing up, Jac was heavily inspired by his father and Sam Cooke. Ross reveals, “My dad would always sing around the house and at church; everywhere I went he’d be singing. Eventually he introduced me to artists like Sam Cooke. I fell in love with what I heard and I began to intensely research and study his style.” Though Sam Cooke was one of Jac’s biggest influences growing up, there was a list of others who still inspire him today; “I look up to James Brown and Nina Simone, Bob Marley, and so many other legends that have paved the way for many artists including myself. I’ll never lose sight of the ground work that they have laid for me and so many others.”

Jac is currently working with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, which was born through a very organic situation. Ross shares, “I can remember it being my birthday and I was leaving a church service when I received a call from a friend named Mezo. He said to me that he got me Rodney Jerkins for my birthday. To my surprise it was true! I was stunned. Working with Rodney has been the best experience of my life. It’s rare to find this kind of chemistry in the industry. We have very similar backgrounds and I’m just honored to sit under such a legend and a great guy.” Since working with Rodney, Jac has had the opportunity to release a few tracks - including “Saved” and “Questions”. Jac admits, “I feel like “Saved “ and “Questions“ best represent me as an artist because these songs represent a message that’s deep inside of me. That message is of hope, healing and transformation. I believe that the only way to get that is by giving people the truth. With these songs and the full EP to come, you’ll get a healthy dose of music that will provoke the mind and inspire a positive change. “

While we had the opportunity to see Jac’s abilities as an artist through “Saved” and “Questions”, they were just a taste of what he has on the way. Jac is gearing up for the release of his debut EP, ‘The Truth Revealed’. Ross reveals, “It provides you with a reality check while, as an artist, I’m still checking myself.  As you walk through the EP you’ll begin to hear messages that are powerful, soul riveting and convey truth from the many angles of life. The good, the bad, and the ugly that life has to offer.” During this process, Jac has learned a lot along the way, especially from Rodney. Ross shares, “I’ve become a better songwriter with his way of challenging me. I definitely am continually learning how to be a better businessman just by being around him. Most importantly I’ve learned how to manage my time and not lose sight of what matters, even in the busy life of music. That lesson is the most valuable to me.  I can’t say enough about how honored I am that a legend like Rodney chose me to mentor and develop.”

While Jac has had quite the introduction to the music industry with the release of his first few singles, he still has an exciting and promising journey ahead. Ross admits, “I have many goals that in time I believe I’ll reach. The most important goal for me is to inspire others with my music and to be the change that I want to see in life. Having a voice on a major stage is a rare opportunity; I choose to use it to help provide a little love and hope in this world. Thank you for allowing me to use this platform to further promote a change.”

You can stream “Saved” and “Questions” across all platforms as we await the highly anticipated release of Jac Ross’ debut EP.
