Josh Groban

With a career spanning two decades, Josh Groban has become one of the most respected artists of our time. Selling over 30 million albums worldwide, this GRAMMY Award-nominiated triple threat has spent the past year on the road in support of his latest album, Bridges. Bridges is Groban’s eight studio release, offering fans a selection of uplifting songs. The first leg of the Bridges tour kicked off last year in Duluth, GA on October 18th running through November 18th, ending at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City. The second leg of the Bridges Tour kicked off on June 7th this year in Highland Park, IL. This time around, Groban brought out critically-acclaimed instrumentalist Chris Botti to support the tour.

Josh Groban brought the Bridges Tour to the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island this past June. Groban’s set consisted of eighteen selections of originals and covers. The show kicked off with “Bigger Than Us” from Josh’s latest album. But, one of the most memorable moments from Groban’s set was his rendition of Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley’s “Pure Imagination”, famously known from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Throughout the show, Groban’s personality shined. In between each song, Josh took the time to explain his connection to the selection, along with giving the audience a glimpse of his witty personality. The one thing I loved most about Groban’s show, was his ability to capture the attention of the audience of music lovers around the world. It’s easy for an artist to go from song to song during a set, but Josh really took his time. You can tell that he is not only a music lover, but also very passionate about the process. Groban gave the audience perspective in ways not many can.

You can tell there was a lot of thought and effort put in to this tour. From the set design to the structure of each song Josh performed. There was even a moment during the show, where Josh appeared in the back of the arena. During that time, Groban took the time to shine a light on one audience member in particular, where he passed over the mic and gave her a shining moment. This tour definitely made you feel, which is something that we as humans can neglect from time to time. We live in a world where there are many imperfections and differences, but Groban so graciously preached how we need to love one another and build BRIDGES!

With this being my first time experiencing Josh Groban live, I am finding myself in a moment of gratitude. I am grateful to live in a time with artists like Josh, who share their passion with the world, all while sharing the importance of the little things in life. We all need to find a sense of unity and join together to survive in this crazy world. If you have the opportunity to see Josh Groban live, do it! The Bridges Tour will continue through September 6th, ending at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, CA!
